2025 Angel Babies Walk/Run

Giving Back for Grayson

Last June, we went through the most unimaginable loss with the passing of our newborn son, Grayson, at 13 days old. What started as a normal and exciting IVF pregnancy later turned into fear of if we would get to bring our little boy into the world due to IUGR/Fetal Growth Restriction. We kept passing milestone after milestone albeit with only small growth spurts and I ended up delivering at 32 weeks via emergency c section due to my placenta beginning to fail.

For 2 blissful weeks we had everything we ever wanted, visiting Gray every day in the Nicu at Valley Children’s and counting down the days until we could bring him home. The team a VCH found that Grayson had a twisted bowel due to an intestinal malformation that was preventing him from feeding. The outlook was looking positive that they would be able to fix it via surgery and he would be on his way to coming home with us after gaining some weight. Sadly, we got the worst possible news that day, the twist in his bowel had been cutting off blood supply and the damage to his intestines was irreversible. All we could do was hold and love him for the days to come, never allowing him to spend a second alone without our love surrounding him. He passed away in our arms on 6/17/24.

We were referred to Angel Babies shortly after by our amazing OBGYN. During the absolute darkest time in our lives, they offered us comfort, compassion, and care. We could not have survived those first few months without their unwavering support and grief counseling.

Angel Babies is such a vital resource for families who have lost a baby or have a baby with a life-limiting illness.
People are not taught how to deal with the death of a baby, it's often the last thing on our minds until it happens. Often times our friends and family often don't know what to say or how to help. The death of a baby changes parents forever, and results in a uniquely deep and personal grieving process. The Angel Babies/Bebitos Angelitos bereavement service at Hinds Hospice provides families with helpful information and support during their journey of grief and mourning.

Please help me in supporting this vitally important community service. This program is only available at Hinds Hospice and depends greatly on community funding.
